As part of the EPA’s Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR 5) program, Rockdale Water Resources began quarterly monitoring in January 2025. Under this program, finished drinking water is sampled and analyzed for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), including PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid) and PFOS, as well as lithium. PFAS are human-made chemicals commonly used in products that resist water, grease, and stains. Because these substances break down very slowly, they are often referred to as “forever chemicals” and may persist in the environment over time. Results from the fourth quarter sampling conducted on December 10, 2025, indicate that PFAS were not present in the finished drinking water.
