Report Water Outage

Pictured here is part of Rockdale County Water Treatment Plant’s Super pulsator vacuum system. This equipment plays an important role in one of the early stages of our water treatment process.

Our Super pulsators use vacuum chambers to create a controlled pulsing action as water moves through the treatment process. This pulsing action helps keep what is called a sludge blanket properly suspended. The sludge blanket is made up of particles that have been brought together during the chemical treatment process.

As the water moves through the Super pulsator, the sludge blanket helps capture dirt, sediment, and other suspended material in the water. This allows the clearer water to separate from those particles before moving on to the next stage of treatment and eventually to our filters.

The vacuum system pictured here helps maintain the pulsing action needed for this process to work properly. Our certified Water Treatment Operators regularly monitor the Super pulsators and their supporting equipment to make sure everything is operating as it should.

It’s one of the many processes happening throughout the plant every day to turn raw water into the safe, high-quality drinking water we provide to our community.
