In celebration of Water Week, Rockdale Water Resources proudly hosted its First Annual Water Fun Day, May 9, 2026, a community-centered event designed to educate, engage, and inspire residents about the importance of water conservation, water quality, and environmental stewardship.
The event, led by Maria Flint, Utility Education Specialist, brought together families, community partners, vendors, and Rockdale Water Resources staff for a day filled with interactive activities, educational exhibits, games, and hands-on learning opportunities. Water Fun Day served as a unique platform to highlight the vital role water plays in our daily lives while promoting responsible water use throughout the community.
A key highlight of the event was the participation of numerous vendors and community organizations that helped make the day both informative and enjoyable. Vendors provided valuable resources, demonstrations, giveaways, and educational materials, giving attendees the opportunity to learn about environmental protection, public services, health and wellness, and community programs available throughout Rockdale County. Their support and engagement played a significant role in the event’s success and helped create a vibrant atmosphere for all who attended.
Attendees enjoyed a variety of water-themed activities that combined fun and education, allowing participants of all ages to learn about the water treatment process, stormwater pollution prevention, conservation practices, and the importance of protecting local waterways. Children and adults alike participated in engaging demonstrations and interactive experiences that reinforced key environmental messages.
“Water Week provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with our community and share the importance of protecting one of our most valuable resources,” said Maria Flint. “Our goal was to create an event that was both educational and enjoyable, helping residents better understand where their water comes from and how they can help preserve it for future generations.”
The success of the inaugural Water Fun Day reflects Rockdale Water Resources’ ongoing commitment to public education, community outreach, and environmental responsibility. Through events like this, the department continues to strengthen relationships with residents while promoting awareness of water-related issues that impact the community.
Rockdale Water Resources extends its sincere appreciation to all participating vendors, community partners, staff members, volunteers, and attendees who helped make the First Annual Water Fun Day a tremendous success. The department looks forward to building on this achievement and making Water Fun Day an annual tradition for years to come.
Together, we can protect, conserve, and celebrate our most precious resource—water.
