Sodium Hypochlorite is a stable liquid solution generated onsite at the Water Treatment Plant. The generated strength is 0.80% parts per million (ppm)—much lower than household bleach, which is typically 5.0%.
Because the solution is intentionally weak for safe and effective disinfection, thousands of gallons are pumped each day into the water distribution system to maintain proper treatment levels and ensure safe, clean drinking water for the community.
